Wait without thought

I said to my soul, be still, and wait without hope
For hope would be hope for the wrong thing; wait without love,
For love would be love of the wrong thing; there is yet faith
But the faith and the love and the hope are all in the waiting.
Wait without thought, for you are not ready for thought:
So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing.

T. S. Eliot

Hi love

This is an extract from one of my favourite poems. To me it captures the essence of meditation. It’s not about sitting in lotus or chanting anything.

It’s about stillness. it's about acceptance of exactly what is and presence.

Mediation could be sitting quietly enjoying a cup of tea in complete presence, or it could be running - that moment when you get into flow state and your mind clears

When you reach a state of peace and flow what is happening in your body from a physiological perspective is that your brain and heart have come into coherence. This can be measured on a device called an Emwave, I used to use one now and again until I reliably knew what coherence felt like and don’t need it any more.

Just closing your eyes, putting your hand on your heart, breathing deeply for about 10 seconds before bringing to kind a heart opening memory like stroking a pet or holding a baby is a proven way to come into coherence and put your body into a healing state. I do this first thing every morning before I get out of bed.

Do you meditate? What’s your favourite method? Reply and let me know!

Until next week

In love, ease and wellness.
